Report of Sri Ramakrishna’s 175th Birth Anniversary

In connection with Sri Ramakrishna’s 175th Birth Anniversary Salem Ashrama conducted a
6 day programme.
1. Three
July 22nd, 23rd & 24th – 7.00 to 8.00 PM.
2. Chariot procession carrying the Photo of Sri Ramakishna was conducted on 29th July
2011 from 6.30 PM to 8.45 PM in the nearby locality with Nadaswaram, Bhajans by
bhajan groups etc. Many devotees, students, wellwishers, admirers etc. participated
with great fervor. Arati was performed at different places on the way. Prasad was
distributed in the end.
3. Sri Sri Chandi Homa was conducted by five Swamis from 9.00 a.m to p.m on
Saturday 30th July (Amavasya day). 700 devotees participated and all had Prasad.
The same day evening Srimat Swami Kamalatmanandaji Maharaj - Adhyaksha,
Madurai Math – spoke on “Sri
PM in the Ashram Prayer Hall which was filled to capacity.
4. A Public Meeting named “Parliament of Religions” was conducted in the town at
A.V.R.Kalyana
representing their respective Faiths spoke on their Religions as a pathway to Truth:
* Bhikku Bodhipala, The Buddhist Meditation, Madurai - on Buddhism as way to God.
* Rt. Rev. Dr. S. Singaroyan, Bishp of Salem - on Christianity as way to God.
* Sri H. Ismail, Founder All Religions People Solidarity, Salem - on Islam as way to God.
* Sri N.S. Nellaiappan,Salem a close devotee and scholar - on Hinduism as way to God.
* Sri R. Maganlal Jain, Secretary, Jain Mission Society, Salem - on Jainism as way to God.
* Revered Swami Kamalatmanandaji Maharaj gave the presidential and concluding
address based on the Life and Teachings of Sri Ramakrishna.

The hall was filled with devotees and general public. Each was given a booklet costing
Rs. 10 and Picture Card of Sri Ramakrishna.
There was wide coverage in the local newspapers and TV Channels. A great enthusiasm
was created in the name of Bhagavan Sri Ramakrishna.
